Berlin, 5. 11. 2008 - Greenpeace activists protest against the climate killing tax policy of the German government. They disguise a SUV of the Mercedes M-class as climate pig (Klimaschwein) by decorating the car with the ears and nose of a pig. Mercedes-benz is still building fuel inefficient cars and SUVs.
The tax for company cars should be connected with the exhaust of carbondioxide (CO2). The aquisition of an economical and climate friendly car should be rewarded. This is the proposal of Greenpeace which was developed by the Forum Ökologisch-Soziale Marktwirtschaft (FÖS).
The current procedure enhances the purchase of climate pigs, because companies are able to set off the full costs against tax liability.
