In a symbolic act the activists, dressed up in the emblems of the country's big super-market chains, are offering passers-by 'meat' in which a syringe for injecting medicine is stuck. 'Massentierhaltung - kommt mir nicht in die Tüte' in German the expression 'kommt mir nicht in die Tüte' - no way! - says literally that factory farming must 'not come in my bag'. - translator's note, it says in German on the giant bag. Factory farming: no way! Greenpeace's protest is aimed against the big supermarket chains of Aldi, Edeka, Lidl, Metro, Rewe, Spar and Tengelmann, which still in the main sell meat which has been factory farmed.Greenpeace is furthermore calling on the German agriculture industry's central marketing association, the CMA, to completely overhaul the seal planned for conventionally-produced foodstuffs.Greenpeace is calling for food only to receive the CMA label if much stricter conditions than those provided for by law pertain. Pigs or cows must not, for example, be allowed to be spend their whole life tied up or kept in cages. Animals whose meat receives the planned mark of quality also ought not to be fed with genetically manipulated feed or antibiotic growth promoters.Products made from pigs or cows which stand on fully slatted floors without straw do not deserve a seal of quality. Animals which are one-sidedly raised for productivity, for their muscle mass, for example, and as a result suffer damage to organs or joints, ought no longer to be raised. It should furthermore be clear on packaging if meat comes from other countries. Only then can countries where hormone additives are allowed in feed or animals are fed with animal meal, for example, be avoided.11 Jan, 2002GreenpeaceDrehorte:BerlinLänge:4m4sParent folder:PROTEST AGAINST FACTORY FARMING,'GRÜNE WOCHE', BERLIN, NEWS ACCESSPurpose:PublicShareKeywords:Gentechnik in der Landwirtschaft-Landwirtschaft-Nahrungsmittelindustrie-PolitikerBearbeitung:GeklammertSelect usageVerwendungszweck (Gebühren werden nur bei tatsächlicher Nutzung fällig)?Nennen Sie eine Medienkategorie für Ihren Verwendungszweck.
