Syngenta wants to sow GM wheat incorporating a secret genetic substance derived from a fungus on 850 square metres [almost an acre] of land. The trials would mean GM wheat would be grown in Germany for the first time. The environmentalists sow several tonnes of organic wheat by hand and motorised hang gliders on the two trial fields for which applications have been made, at Strenzfeld and Latdorf. They have put yellow notices saying no to GM wheat and GM bread and have marked the areas prepared for the trials with tape cordoning them off.The authority responsible, the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin, is expected to decide on authorisation of the trials in the next few days. Greenpeace lodged an objection on 12 March and called for the genetic engineering trial to be prohibited.Statements (in German): Henning Strodthoff, Greenpeace Germany genetic engineering expert29 Mar, 2004GreenpeaceDrehorte:BernburgLänge:8m24sParent folder:G.E.: WHEAT SOWING ACTION, BERNBURG - NEWS ACCESSPurpose:PublicShareKeywords:Aktionen-Anbau von Weizen-Gen-Weizen-Greenpeace AktivistenBearbeitung:GeklammertSelect usageVerwendungszweck (Gebühren werden nur bei tatsächlicher Nutzung fällig)?Nennen Sie eine Medienkategorie für Ihren Verwendungszweck.
