The project involves the drilling of 300 oil wells in the Doba basin and the construction of a 1070 km pipeline. The main property developer is Exxon Mobil, the pipeline project is supported and financed by the World Bank and a consortium of private banks.Samuel Nguiffo, C.E.D (Centre pour l'Environment et le Développement) and several local people talk about the problems and effects this project has for their lives and on the environment. The Greenpeace research tour reveals that serious social and environmental problems caused by building the pipeline have been ignored. Apart from the destruction of pristine rainforests and fragile ecosystems in Cameroon the local population is effected by their water reservoirs drying up, water pollution due to pipeline leaks, lung diseases due to dust expansion, impoverishment, naming only a few amongst more problems.Greenpeace has filmed this footage as part of its campaign against Exxon Mobil, the main property developer of the project. Greenpeace accuses the world's biggest corporation of making billion profits at the expense of the environment and demands from the international community of states to set up strict rules to stop the globally active oil giants. These corporations have to take social and ecological responsibility, invest in renewable energies and avow themselves to climate protection.German transscript of the mainly French interviews see shotlist17 Sep, 2002GreenpeaceDrehorte:Kamerun, YaoundeLänge:17m9sParent folder:CHAD - CAMEROON PIPELINE RESEARCH TOUR CLIPREEL 2002Purpose:PublicShareKeywords:Baustellen-Einheimische Bevölkerung-Esso ExxonMobil-Kinder-Ölpipelines-ÖlverschmutzungBearbeitung:GeklammertSelect usageVerwendungszweck (Gebühren werden nur bei tatsächlicher Nutzung fällig)?Nennen Sie eine Medienkategorie für Ihren Verwendungszweck.
