'1:1 GIANTS OF THE SEAS' at Oceaneum Stralsund
The fascinating beauty of giant sea animals is at the centre of the Ozeaneum in Stralsund, which will open in summer 2008. The exhibition is a collaboration between Greenpeace and the German 'Ozeaneum' (museum for marine life). Greenpeace is showing the 'giants of the seas' in its own 50 foot high exhibition hall. The blue whale is the biggest animal in the world, being about 90 feet long, and can be seen here as a full-size model. The exhibition also shows life-size models of other whales, giant squid, manta rays and sunfish. Visitors have an opportunity to lie beneath the exhibits and use all their senses to experience their dimensions. The exhibition is a way for Greenpeace to extend its global activities to protect the oceans.
